I'm walking for a world without type one diabetes

Total Steps:

91,943

Steps Goal:

248,000

I'm walking in March 2025 to turn type one into type none!

Look. Having Type 1 diabetes sucks.

My body doesn't make insulin so I have to inject it several times a day to stay alive. It is an okay-ish solution, better than dying, but you can only mimic the body's functions so much.

And now my body doesn't want to take the insulin I give it and use it that well - so I have this thing called "double diabetes" - double the fun it isn't.

In fact it isn't fun for anyone who has it and it causes a lot of health problems and risks, no matter how well you look after yourself. Apart from the health issues, the added mental load is extreme. Not to mention the cost of staying well.

I want those diagnosed with T1D in the future to have better outcomes and lives. I would like them to be able to take a pill, or undergo a procedure and nothing more for the rest of their lives. JDRF are working on it - always.

I'm taking 8,000 steps a day during March for the eight Australians diagnosed with type 1 diabetes every day as part of JDRF's One Walk.

Why? To help fund life-changing research aimed at improving lives and curing type 1 diabetes.

Please support my walk today.
