I‘m fundraising for my 14th year with Type 1 diabetes.

At the age of 4 I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. I didn’t understand what this meant at the time, but I quickly became familiar with the routine and what came with it.
Over the years it became apart of my life - counting carbs, learning how to manage my highs and lows, understanding how my body responded to different foods and activities as well as the mental strain that came with it all. 

As I got older, I started to realise the impact diabetes had on everything I did. There were moments of frustration like times when my blood sugar would act unpredictably or times when I couldn’t eat the foods my friends were due to my levels. However these moments taught me a valuable lesson to life itself and has turned me into the person I am today. 

Fast forward to today where I’ve taken control of my condition and haven’t let it define me. It’s just apart of my journey and I’ve grown stronger because of it. 

This is why I’m passionate about fundraising - to support research, provide resources for those living with type 1 diabetes and help work towards a future where managing this condition is easier for everyone living with it. 

Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference in improving lives and bringing us one step closer to a cure.
