My Story
We are taking part in JDRF One Walk to turn type one into type none!
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that can strike at any time. It affects more than 120,000 Australian families, and 7 people are diagnosed every day.
On 18 June 2019, Sophia (then aged 6) was diagnosed with type 1. We have no family history of diabetes, and it was a huge shock.
There is a hugely supportive network of families, educators and researchers who help us every day to manage her condition and minimise the impact it has on her life, but type 1 diabetes is something we now live with 24 hours a day, every day.
Sophia has been truly inspirational in the way she has taken everything on board. We never imagined our little girl would need to prick her fingers and count carbs, let alone tolerate 4 insulin injections a day. She is so resilient and positive minded, and is even doing her injections herself now.
So I am walking with the #JDRFbluearmy to raise funds for research to cure, prevent and better treat type 1 diabetes.
Please DONATE NOW and support my walk to change the lives of Australians living with T1D.
Thank you.
