We're walking to support TYPE 1 DIABETES!!
In the past month, Hudson was admitted to hospital which is where he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
His life has changed dramatically: planning food ahead of time (when he has arfid this can be tricky), counting carbs, finger pricks, injecting insulin and all of the bits inbetween.
He has been incredibly brave, resilient and a majority of the time, copped it on the chin like a champ; onto of all his other challenges too! We’re so proud of him. While he has just got on with it and we can appreciate that life for him isn't over; it remains that type 1 diabetes requires Hudson to take on a lot more responsibilities and worries 24/7.
Whilst we know that living with type 1 diabetes is something Hudson will learn to thrive with, finding a cure would be such an amazing outcome. We are participating in this walk to raise money towards jdrf and their continued research to find a cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes.
We are joining the world's largest walk for a future without type 1 diabetes (T1D) at Coopers Lookout Park/Kawana Surf Club on Sunday 30 March 2025!
Why? To help fund life-changing research aimed at improving lives and curing T1D.
Type 1 diabetes can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.
