I’m walking for a world without T1D?
On the 14th November every year, it is World Diabetes Day and to show my support I will be joining the world's largest walk for a future without Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) at Burswood Park on Sunday 9 March 2025!
Why? As someone living with Type 1 Diabetes for only a short time, I understand the daily struggles and impact it has on lives all over the world. These lives are flipped upside down with a life long diagnosis, suddenly overloaded with information on how to survive and flooded with every possible complication, all while trying to understand how any of it works or how a drug you now need to inject for the rest of your life to stay alive can just as easily kill you.
Diagnosis means 24/7 care with no breaks and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to live a safe and healthy life.
Type 1 diabetes can strike anyone at any time, with currently 8 Australians diagnosed with the life changing disease everyday. This is why I am extremely passionate about helping fund life-changing research aimed at improving lives and curing T1D.
Please follow the link to support or come along and join me on the walk for a world with out T1D! ??
