I'm walking in Shepparton to turn type one into type none!
8th of January 2025 was the scariest moment I have ever faced in my life. I got a phone call to meet Thomas and his step mum at Priorty Care as he had been unwell. I walked in and didn't recognise the boy sitting in front of me. Over 8 kilos lighter then he was when I seen him at Christmas, dark eyes and couldn't hold a proper conversation or walk properly. We were seen fairly fast and within 10 minutes of going into that room we were whisked across to the Emergency Department and Thomas was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and in severe DKA. We spent 2 days in ICU and another week in the children's ward. Our entire lives have been altered. But as per usual Thomas has taken it like an absolute champion and now we want to join in and help raise money to hopefully one day find a cure or at least help fund new products that will make help living with T1D easier
I'm joining the world's largest walk for a future without type 1 diabetes (T1D) at Victoria Park Lake on Sunday 23 March 2025!
Why? To help fund life-changing research aimed at improving lives and curing T1D.
Type 1 diabetes can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.
Please support our walk today! Every little bit counts!
