Phoenix, my hero!

Seeing all the things Phoenix has to go through daily, weekly and him just getting on with it all- makes him my hero.

Looking at his little body with rashes from his previous infusion sets that deliver his insulin from his pump, which is changed every two days and having to put him through the pain of taking the patches off (which are similar to that of large bandaid with a hole for the device to sit in, to help the needles to stay in) the infusion sets and his CGM (changed every 9 days) which do hurt him. However, he just puts up with it, sometimes there is a fight to have it put on or taken off. He is still 4 after all and it would hurt so we can't blame him really. He is and forever will be my brave T1D Super Hero!

I'm walking in Perth to turn type one into type none!

I imagine most people know by now, that our little Phoenix was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes three months ago. This autoimmune condition has been life changing for our family and we hope we can help to find cure or a prevention, by fundraising for much needed research.

I'm joining the world's largest walk for a future without type 1 diabetes (T1D) at Burswood Park on Sunday 9 March 2025!

Why? To help fund life-changing research aimed at improving lives and curing T1D.

Type 1 diabetes can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.
