I'm walking in Sydney to turn type one into type none!
I'm joining the world's largest walk for a future without type 1 diabetes (T1D) at Cathy Freeman Park on Sunday 23 March 2025!
I am coming into my 41st year as a Type 1 Diabetic. A horrible disease!
My wish is for younger diabetics not to live with this disease for over 40 years like me. WE NEED A CURE!!!!!
I have to admit the positive technology changes have made with Type 1 diabetes over the last 40 years has been amazing and needed. But we need more! Boy was it tough before pumps, sensors, readers and phones. But we need more. My 10 finger pricks a day were horrible. Mixing my two insulins from the ampules and using syringes that really hurt. And for a time we had to pay for all our syringes and needle points... the upkeep cost a bomb! We have it a little better financially today, thank God!
8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.
