I'm walking in Canberra to turn type one into type none!
I'm joining the world's largest walk for a future without type 1 diabetes (T1D) at Weston Park on Sunday 2 March 2025!
5 years ago Jack was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. He has shown incredible strength and resilience in his life, overcoming many challenges and obstacles, and it has been no different when it comes to dealing with diabetes.
At the end of November 2019 Jack wet the bed a few times which was very out of character. He was drinking lots and losing weight and was very tired all the time. On the 16th of December we went to the doctor and then on to the hospital.
Jacks diagnosis was a steep learning curve for us all, but it shocked me that as a nurse I had so much to learn. I decided to become a diabetes educator to try and help others navigate their journey with diabetes.
I believe they will find a cure during Jack's lifetime, and fundraising is part of this. Please support Jack and I as we walk to find a cure.
Coincidentally, the walk in Canberra falls on Jack’s 15th birthday.
