I'm walking for a world without type one diabetes

Total Steps:

244,240

Steps Goal:

248,000

Walking together to turn type 1 into type none.

My story, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 24 years ago. It's hard to remember what life was like without diabetes. When I was diagnosed I was started on insulin injections where I drew the insulin out of a vial into a syringe, I then moved to insulin pens and was having up to 8 injections a day and I have been on an insulin pump for 15years.
I have cared for and educated many children newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes during my career as a Registered Nurse working predominantly in Paediatrics.
At the beginning of 2023 our eldest son Nate was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Initially he was started on insulin pens and quickly moved to a pump. We are both have a continuous glucose monitor that connects with our insulin pump which helps with our day to day control and makes Iife with diabetes a little easier to manage.
Together as a family we are taking on the October JDRF 8000 steps a day challenge to raise funds for life-changing research for the 8 Australia's diagnosed with type 1 diabetes every day.
Any and all support and donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you

I'm walking in Albury to turn type one into type none!

I'm joining the world's largest walk for a future without type 1 diabetes (T1D) at Hovell Tree Park on Sunday 6 April 2025!

Why? To help fund life-changing research aimed at improving lives and curing T1D.

Type 1 diabetes can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.

Please support my walk today.

Life without diabetes in our family would be very different but one that we are hoping to one day experience.
