We're walking for Leighton Kruger to turn Type 1 into Type None
We're joining the world's largest walk for a future without type 1 diabetes (T1D) at Burswood Park on Sunday 9 March 2025!
Why? To help fund life-changing research aimed at improving lives and curing T1D.
Leighton was diagnosed 4 days after his first birthday.
He ended up in severe DKA and we nearly lost him.
He is an incredible little boy with the most infectious smile, a roll with the punches kind of guy who loves all his people.
He now has a lifetime of ups and downs ahead of him with this slightly altered future.
A million decisions to essentially save his life each and every day.
Our goal is to raise enough money to go towards the already incredible research to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes - so that Leighton and every other type 1 sufferer can look forward to a stress free future.
Type 1 diabetes can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.
No baby should have to go through what my baby has.
