I'm walking in Perth to turn type one into type none!

I'm joining the world's largest walk for a future without type 1 diabetes (T1D) at Burswood Park on Sunday 9 March 2025!

Why? To help fund life-changing research aimed at improving lives and curing T1D.

Type 1 diabetes can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.

In September 2024 my dear friends son Mavy boy was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.

He suffered severe DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis, a life-threatening complication of diabetes that occurs when the body doesn't have enough insulin), that nearly took his life - at 12 months old.

Mav (Leighton) is such a gorgeous & happy little boy, who has not let Type 1 Diabetes dampen his Sunshine, or slow him down - because his amazing parents, family and staff at PCH have made sure he doesn't life any differently to his big brother or any other little person.
